2021 Rocky Mountain Collegiate
March 5–6, 2021
The RMCCDC is a well established competition that provides collegiate teams an opportunity to test their cybersecurity knowledge and abilities. Contestants will work as a replacement security operations team at a fictitious company that is under attack by an adversary. The competition provides faculty with a measure of the strength of their curriculum, students will find out how they do against long odds and intense pressure, while employers can search for future security, network and systems engineers. The winning team represents the region at the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.
This is our eleventh year as Rocky Mountain regional host with competitors from Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, New Mexico and of course Colorado. We are providing collegiate teams an opportunity to test their cybersecurity skills and knowledge.
RMCCDC specifically focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing “commercial” network infrastructure. Not only do students get to test their knowledge in an operational environment, they will also demonstrate their proficiency defending a typical network while under threat from an unknown adversary, the Red team. Our sponsors and volunteers are always on the look out for up and coming security personnel. RMCCDC provides a unique opportunity for students and industry professionals to interact and discuss many of the security and operational challenges the students will soon face as they enter the job market.
RMCCDC not only benefits the students involved, but will also benefit corporations as these graduates will be bringing a more experienced skill set to their jobs upon beginning their employment. RMCCDC also provides direct feedback for schools to exercise, reinforce, and examine their security and information technology curriculum.
